<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten display contrast in a reflective liquid crystal display device using a scattering type liquid crystal. <P>SOLUTION: The reflective liquid crystal display device has a plurality of pixels, and is further equipped with: a liquid crystal layer 1 of which the respective pixels can be switched between a light scattering state and a light transmitting state; a pair of electrode layers 11 and 12 placed opposite to each other via the liquid crystal layer 1; a plurality of protrusions 5 which are arranged on the rear side of the liquid crystal layer 1 and which have reflective surfaces respectively; and light absorption layers 3 arranged between adjacent protrusions 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
