PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mud material enabling to expect improvements in strength and corrosion resistance, improve openability and reduce works at the front of a blast furnace by improving the abrasion resistance of the mud material against molten pig iron and molten slag, stabilizing the volume of the mud material and compacting the tissue of the mud material. SOLUTION: This mud material is obtained by adding 10-17 outer wt.% of a liquid tar as a binder to 100% of a refractory aggregate comprising 30-50 wt.% of an aluminous raw material, 2-5 wt.% of a siliceous raw material, 15-25 wt.% of silicon carbide, 5-10 wt.% of a carbonaceous raw material, 15-30 wt.% of a nitride, and 5-15 wt.% of metal powder, and subsequently kneading the mixture. The refractory aggregate comprises <=5 wt.% of grains having sizes of >1 mm, 60-70 wt.% of particles having sizes of <0.075 mm, 5-15 wt.% of calcinated alumina having sizes of <=2 μm and the remainder of particles having sizes of 1-0.0075 mm. |
