This white line detection device (1) comprises: a local area brightness detector (22) for setting a white line detection filter, which has a white line detection area and a road surface detection area, in a local area on a road surface image to detect brightness; a white line area brightness analyzer (23) for calculating statistics of brightness distribution in the white line detection area; a road surface area brightness analyzer (24) for calculating statistics of brightness distribution in a road surface detection area; and a degree of separation evaluator (25) for calculating, for each pixel of the road surface image, the degree of separation calculated using the statistics of brightness distribution. |
