The present invention is an engine driving device, which is provided with: a starter generator having an armature part which comprises a first winding and a second winding arranged in parallel and comprising a multiphase coil, and a field magnet part comprising a permanent magnet; a first orthogonal transformation unit which is connected to the first winding and which converts power between direct and alternating current bidirectionally; a second orthogonal transformation unit which is connected to the second winding and which converts power between direct and alternating current bidirectionally; and one or multiple switch elements which are interposed between a prescribed I/O terminal connected to the battery and at least one of the direct-current terminal of the first perpendicular transformation unit and the direct-current terminal of the second perpendicular transformation unit and which connects and separates the aforementioned I/O terminal and the aforementioned at least one direct current terminal.
