PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the degradation of air-conditioning ability by controlling an electric expansion valve according to the configuration or capacity of an indoor unit. SOLUTION: This air conditioner has a refrigerant circulating circuit constituted to circulate a refrigerant discharged from a compressor, from a condenser to an evaporator; the electric expansion valve adjusted in valve opening by an electric signal and provided in a liquid pipe between the condenser and the evaporator; a microcomputer for controlling the operation of the compressor and electric expansion valve; and the indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The air conditioner further has a control means for controlling the opening of the electric expansion valve according to the recognized result of the outdoor unit which recognizes a target value of a subcooled temperature from the configuration or capacity of the indoor unit.
