PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image area setting device that makes it possible to smoothly set an area through an easy operation and can improve usability. SOLUTION: A digital camera includes a system control circuit 50, a sub-dial 68, a direction indication key 69, a switch operation part 70, etc. The system control circuit 50 performs control so that a minimum movement quantity by a second area indicating method is smaller than a minimum movement quantity by a first area indicating method. When an enlargement display area by the second area indicating method is indicated after an enlargement display area by the first area indicating method is indicated, the minimum movement quantity by the second area indicating method is changed. Further, when the enlargement display area by the first area indicating methods is indicated during the indication of the enlargement display area by the second area indicating method, control is so performed that a direction different from directions individually indicated by the first and second area indicating methods is indicated.
