Method and device for UV-ray hardening of substrate layers

The method involves subjecting the coating to ultraviolet radiation at a radiation point with a relative movement of defined duration and feeding an inert gas to the radiation point to reduce the negative effects of oxygen on the coating. The inert gas is only supplied during a part of the irradiation period and the feed is interrupted during the remaining irradiation period. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for ultraviolet radiation hardening of substrate coatings.
