<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain saving of storage capacity used in a storage system and/or improvement in performance of the storage system. <P>SOLUTION: The storage system writes a data element stored in a primary volume to a secondary volume constituting a volume pair with the primary volume according to a selected storage method that is a data storage method selected from a plurality of types of data storage methods.
