PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof for multiplying the width of a channel of TFT are provided to easily form a pixel electrode pattern and prevent the error of a liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION: A TFT(Thin Film Transistor)(154) is formed on a first substrate. A color filter is formed on TFT. A cover shield unit(181) is formed on the color filter through a contact hole(185). A pixel electrode(191) is formed on the cover shield connected through the contact hole to TFT. The cover shield has the same planar shape as the pixel electrode excluding the contact hole.
