发明名称 Membrane separation devices, systems and methods employing same and data management systems and methods
摘要 A membrane separation device for use in blood processing procedures is disclosed. In one embodiment, a spinning membrane separator is provided in which at least two zones or regions are created in the gap between the spinning membrane and the shell, such that mixing of the fluid between the two regions is inhibited by a radial rib or ridge associated with the spinning membrane that decreases the gap between the spinning membrane and the shell to define two fluid regions, the ridge isolating the fluid in the two regions to minimize mixing between the two. Automated systems and methods are disclosed for separating a unit of previously collected whole blood into selected blood components, such as concentrated red cells and plasma, for collecting red cells and plasma directly from a donor in a single pass, and for cell washing. Data management systems and methods and priming methods are also disclosed.

主权项 1. A blood filtration device comprising: a generally cylindrical housing having an interior wall; an interior member mounted interior of the housing and having an external surface; one of the interior wall of the housing and the external surface of the interior member including a porous membrane spaced apart from the wall of the housing or surface of the interior member so as to define an annular gap therebetween; the housing and interior member being relatively rotatable; an inlet for directing whole blood comprising plasma and red cells into the annular gap; a first outlet for directing plasma passing through the membrane to a collection container; and a second outlet for directing from the annular gap the remaining blood components; wherein the membrane has a surface area sufficient to separate plasma at a flow rate resulting in the residence time of red blood cells within the annular gap being insufficient to cause undue hemolysis; the device further comprising a high perfusion region covered by the membrane and a non-perfused region extending beyond the membrane, and a circumferential ridge extending from one of the interior wall of the housing and the external surface of the interior member so as to reduce the annular gap therebetween, the circumferential ridge separating the high perfusion region from the non-perfused region.
