摘要 A positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having excellent low-temperature output characteristics and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the same are provided. According to an aspect of the positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention, a compound containing a rare earth element and a compound containing lithium and fluorine are attached to a surface of a positive electrode active material formed of a lithium transition metal oxide. The compound containing a rare earth element attached to the surface of the positive electrode active material is preferably at least one selected from a hydroxide, an oxyhydroxide, a phosphate compound, a carbonate compound, and an oxide.
