The present technology pertains to a data processing device and a data processing method configured so as to enable a plurality of block interleaving formats to efficiently coexist in data transmission using LDPC codes. In groupwise interleaving, when type-A block interleaving of MODCOD-B LDPC codes is performed, groupwise interleaving of the MODCOD-B LDPC codes is performed so as to yield the same block interleaving result as when performed using type B; or, when type-B block interleaving of MODCOD-A LDPC codes is performed, groupwise interleaving of the MODCOD-A LDPC codes is performed so as to yield the same block interleaving result as when performed using type A. The present technique is applicable when, e.g., performing data transmission involving the use of LDPC codes. |
