METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPLEMENTING HISTORICAL TRENDING FOR BUSINESS RECORDS

Disclosed is an improved method, system, and program product to implement a business platform that assigns a server instance and dedicated database to each business customer. A snapshot of data is periodically copied from one or more database tables to a historical table of the dedicated database. Data is retrieved in response to a query from the historical table, enabling historical trending capabilities without affecting a performance of other business customers of the business platform.

1. A method, comprising:
providing an interface of a software as a service (SaaS) platform to a plurality of customers; providing a first server instance within the SaaS platform, the first server instance associated with a first database to a first customer account such that data corresponding to the first account is directed to the first database; providing a second server instance within the SaaS platform, the second server instance associated with a second database to a second customer account such that data corresponding to the second account is directed to the second database; creating a historical table in the first database; periodically copying a snapshot of data from one or more database tables of the first database to the historical table of the first database such that the historical table collects snapshots of data of the one or more database tables over time; retrieving, in response to a query submitted by a user associated with the first customer account, snapshot data from the historical table using the first server instance and the first database but not the second server instance and not the second database; and causing display of a result of the submitted query to the user.
