PURPOSE: An unchecked message notifying method is provided to immediately ring the alarm for informing a user that an unchecked message exists in a pager. CONSTITUTION: An alarm for notifying that an unchecked message is generated in a pager is set(109). When a message received in the pager is not checked by the user, the alarm is generated(209), and an icon showing an unchecked message is displayed(211). The alarm is rung by predetermined periods until the user presses a message checking key of the pager. The alarm is realized as a beep sound, a melody or vibration. If the user presses(213) the message checking key, the alarm generation and the icon display are interrupted. Accordingly, the user can check all messages immediately after the messages arrive in the pager, thereby taking a pertinent management.
