PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically adjusting the volume of audio signals is provided to prevent an audio signal from outputting excessively large or small in response to a change of an input audio signal by controlling a degree of amplification of an audio amplifier based on a comparing result obtained by comparing an input audio signal with an audio information set by the user. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for automatically adjusting the volume of audio signals includes a pre-amplifier(201) for controlling a level of an input audio signal, a main amplifier(202) for amplifying the controlled level to a preset gain value set by a user and outputting to a speaker, an A/D converter(203) for converting the input analog audio signal from the pre-amplifier(201) into a digital signal, a micro-computer(204) and a user interface(205) for inputting a user's command to micro-computer(204). The micro-computer(204) recognizes levels of the input audio signals output from the A/D convertor(203) and performs a gain control of the pre-amplifier(201) and a muting and a gain control of the main computer(202) by using the recognized result and the preset gain value set by the user.
