<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor improving image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image sensor contains: a first epilayer 2 where a first photodiode R is formed; a second epilayer 3 where a second photodiode G and a first plug 5 are formed while the second epilayer 3 is formed on the first epilayer 2; and a third epilayer 4 where a third photodiode B, a second plug 8, and an element separation film 6 are formed while the third epilayer 4 is formed on the second epilayer 3.
