<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector which facilitates the assembly of a wire harness and reliably locks a protector body to a lid, and to provide a lock method of a protector which uses the protector. <P>SOLUTION: A protector 1 according to this invention comprises: a U shaped protector body 10 housing a wire harness W composed of multiple electric wires; a plate like lid 20 closing an upper opening of the protector body 10; and lock mechanisms 30 fixing the protector body 10 to the lid 20. Body side through holes 41, into which support protrusions 51 protruding at a protector assembly work plate 50 are respectively inserted, are formed at the protector body 10. Lid side through holes 42, into which the support protrusions 51 are respectively inserted, are formed at the lid 20.
