The electrical machine has the winding coils of the impregnated machine winding (1) positioned in half open winding slots in the machine laminations packet, with the sides of the slot coated with a surface insulation (3) containing mica. The bare or lacquer-coated winding wire has a round cross-section and is enclosed by a foil mica band, with mica-containing surface insulation, or a foil mica band providing the phase insulation. Each winding coil is provided by 2 partial coils (4,6) separated from one another by an intermediate layer (5).
