Compressed-air system with detachable compressor clutch for vehicle compressed air braking system

The system has a compressor which is driven via a detachable clutch and charges an air-bottle. The clutch is pneumatically operated by a governor, being detached on reaching working pressure in the bottle. The governor housing has an inlet union (2) supplied with the bottle pressure, also an outlet union (3) with venting equipment. The venting equipment for the governor outlet pressure has a retaining valve (35a) preventing discharge of the outlet pressure to atmosphere when a pressure slightly above atmospheric is reached. It can be arranged to stop discharge when excess pressure is roughly 1 bar. When outlet union pressure falls, the retaining valve can be arranged to supply compressed-air from the bottle until the desired pressure is reached.
