PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor which can smooth the flow of the magnetic flux of permanent magnets by compulsively applying a flow of magnetic flux in the direction of running into the permanent magnets in the group of magnets, and can enlarge the components of a magnetic field concerned in thrust. SOLUTION: In a linear motor where a group of magnets 1 are made by arranging permanent magnets 1a and 1b, where the directions of magnetization are opposite to each other, alternately in the direction 4 of running, and this magnet group 1 is used as a fixing part or a mobile part, magnets 2a and 2b for rectification which are magnetized in the direction roughly orthogonal to the direction of magnetization of the magnet group 1 are arranged between respective permanent magnets 1a and 1b constituting the magnet group 1 such that the directions of the magnetization of the fellow adjacent magnets 2a and 2b for rectification become opposite to each other.
