PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera that uses a high resolution solid-state image pickup element and has a high resolution still picture continuous recording function that can continuously record a moving picture, a still picture with a resolution nearly the same as that of a moving picture and a high resolution still picture having a resolution of a still camera or the like at a short time interval. SOLUTION: The video camera is provided with an image pickup means 2 that can pick up a high resolution still picture, a moving picture processing system 3, a still picture processing system 5, and a continuous still picture processing system 7 that generates a division images by fields or frames being divisions of an image or an interleaved image by fields or frames resulting from interleaving different image parts on the basis of each still picture or its most video information. The continuous still picture processing system 7 consists of an image memory 9 that records video information outputted from at least the image pickup means 2 and of an image memory controller 10 that controls the memory 9.
