PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is a risk that a desired wave is distort ed due to the influence of an interfering wave. SOLUTION: An automatic gain control circuit for performing the gain control of a received signal on the basis of the detection output of the received signal is provided with: a variable attenuating means for deciding the attenuation quantity of the received signal according to the instruction of a control signal; a detecting means for receiving the received signal attenuated by the variable attenuating means and detecting the signal level of the desired wave from the received signal; and a gain control means for controlling the attenuation quantity of the variable attenuating means on the basis of the respective signal levels of the desired wave and interfering wave included in the received signal outputted from the variable attenuating means.
