PURPOSE: A device and method for compensating temperature of head base plate of ink jet printer is provided to compensate temperature of the head base plate appropriately to optimum printing condition. CONSTITUTION: A device includes a temperature measuring part(30) measuring temperature of a head base plate and outputting measuring signal with level corresponding with measured temperature; a comparison part(34) comparing the measuring signal with reference signal with level corresponding with reference temperature; a heating part(38) heating the head base plate; and a heating driving part(36) driving the heating part in response to the result of comparison in the comparison part.
