PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information recording medium having a configuration of a large size isolated recording material capable of reliably achieving high density recording.SOLUTION: The information recording medium includes: a base portion 6; plural pillars 4 disposed over one main plane 6a of the base portion 6; a base film 7 formed over an uneven surface formed with a main plane 6a of the base portion 6 and plural pillars 4; and a phase change recording film 11 formed over the base film 7. Defining a minimum value of an angle formed by a side wall 5 of a pillar 4 and a plane parallel to a main plane 6a of the base portion 6 as &thetas;; and defining a minimum value of an angle formed by a side wall 9 of protruding portion of the base film 7 and a plane parallel to a main plane 6a of the base portion 6 as &thetas;, &thetas;satisfies 90°<&thetas;<120°and &thetas;satisfies 60°<&thetas;<90°.
