<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of classifying images in connection with a JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) compression history. <P>SOLUTION: This method comprises a function for deriving an image signature from an image showing a spatial frequency component of one or more chrominance components of the image which comprises the spatial frequency component relevant to the JPEG compression, and a function for classifying the images based on the analysis of the image signature with respect to the fact that JPEG compression of the image has been carried out or not. The above-mentioned deriving function may also include the suppressing spatial frequency component of the one or more above-mentioned chrominance components in relation to a luminance gradient. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
