It can be useful to communicate with more than one user simultaneously over a wireless communications network. A first communication device 202 transmits to a third device 206 on a free time slot in the RF channel. If a second device 204 then wishes to communicate with the third device 206, it transmits on the same channel but in a different time slot. Therefore, the third communication device can process the two time slots separately and either mix them together and output them to a speaker or, for a stereo audio output, pass one call to each channel and hence allow the user of the third communication device to choose which call to listen to. Use in a TETRA system and also use by the emergency services is mentioned. |
