PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow plug suppressing manufacturing costs by reducing the manufacturing cost of an outer cylinder, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A glow plug 100 comprises: a heater 130 having a columnar rod shape and generating heat by electrification; an outer cylinder 150 holding the heater 130 in a cylindrical hole 150h; and a housing 110 having an axial hole 110h extending in an axial direction HJ, in which in an axial hole tip part 110hs of the axial hole 110h on a tip side GS in the axial direction HJ, an outer cylinder rear end part 150k of the outer cylinder 150 on a rear end side GK in the axial direction HJ is press-fitted, the housing holding the heater 130 via the outer cylinder rear end portion 150k. The outer cylinder 150 has a cylindrical base part 150B, and a single or multiple cylindrical overlap part 150T which overlaps from the radial outside with a base rear end portion 150Bk of the base part 150B on the rear end side GK in the axial direction HJ. The outer cylinder rear end part 150k is formed of the base part 150B and the overlap part 150T. |
