PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain a high-quality image without an image defect in the range from a multicolor high density part consisting of multilayered toner to a monochrome halftone part. SOLUTION: The intermediate transfer type image forming device is equipped with a contact transfer member 7 pressed and arranged on the side of the toner image T carrying surface of an intermediate transfer body 4 in a secondary transfer means 6, plural electrode members 8 (for example, 8a and 8b) opposed to the member 7 while putting the transfer body 4 in between and arranged in contact with the transfer body 4, and plural bias applying means 9 (for example, 9a and 9b) for applying transfer bias to the members 8 (8a and 8b) so as to form transfer electric field oriented toward the member 7 through the members 8 (8a and 8b).
