PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording body having high resolution, being clear, excellent in image stability and capable of reversible display. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording body 1 has a magnetic recording layer 12 including microcapsules 15 incorporating a flake-shaped magnetic powder 22 and a dispersion medium showing a solid state at the ordinary temperature on a substrate 2. Image information is displayed by contrast of reflected light obtained by orientation of the flake-shaped magnetic powder 22 brought by applying heat and magnetism in a direction parallel or perpendicular to the magnetic recording layer 12 and is erased by fixing the direction of the orientation of the flake-shaped magnetic powder 22 to be either parallel or perpendicular to the magnetic recording layer 12.
