<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure quick startability or accelerability of a vehicle after restarting by improving restartability of an engine. <P>SOLUTION: A stopping restarting control means 2a is arranged for performing control for automatically stopping or restarting the engine, and performing control for restoring an automatic transmission 50 to a drive state in a specific period A in an engine stopping operation period, by outputting a engaging command to a clutch means 67 of the automatic transmission 50 in the predetermined timing T4 after stopping fuel supply, by displacing the automatic transmission 50 to a neutral state until a supply stopping point T2 of fuel, at the latest.
