A method and a system for recharging a prepaid phone card are provided to offer convenience to a user by transferring a recharge request message to a mobile number corresponding to the prepaid phone card when the remainder of the prepaid phone card is used up. A remainder checker(110) checks whether the remainder of a prepaid phone card is smaller than a predetermined amount by checking expiration and/or a charged amount of the prepaid phone card when a call using the prepaid phone card is terminated. A mobile number extractor(120) extracts a mobile number corresponding to the prepaid phone card when the remainder of the prepaid phone card is smaller than the predetermined amount. A message transmitter(130) transmits a recharge request message including a callback URL(Uniform Resource Locator) corresponding to a prepaid phone card recharge service to the extracted mobile number. A recharge service provider(140) provides the recharge service corresponding to the prepaid phone card when wireless Internet connection is set through the callback URL. The remainder includes a remainder inquiry part inquiring the remainder of the prepaid phone card to a mobile phone system and a determiner determining the remainder by referring to the inquiry result.
