<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device serving as illumination of a television camera. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device serving as illumination of a television camera includes: a video signal processing means 101 for generating video signal; a recording section 108 for recording the video signal and outputting a reproduced image; a recorded and reproduced video signal switching means 106 for switching output video signal in response to an operation of any one of recording or reproduction of the recording section 108; an illuminated video signal generating means 103, 104 and 105 for generating the average video signal with predetermined color for local illumination; a display video signal switching means 107 for switching output of the illuminated video signal generating means to output of the recorded and reproduced video signal switching means 106; a liquid crystal display means having backlight 109 for displaying output video signal of the display video signal switching means 107; and a control means 110 for controlling switching of the display video signal switching means 107.
