The invention describes a battery terminal (10) for a motor vehicle, having a clamping ring (18) for surrounding a battery pole (12) in a mounting plane which is situated perpendicular to its ring axis (R), two clamping limbs (22, 24) which are connected to the clamping ring (18) and between which there is a clamping gap (S), and a clamping arrangement (32) which is designed to apply force to the two clamping limbs (22, 24) and has a clamping screw (34) and two clamping pieces (40, 42) which can be operated by means of the clamping screw (34) and of which one clamping piece (40) bears against a contact area (48) of the one clamping limb (22) and the other clamping piece (42) bears against a contact area of the other clamping limb (24). The contact areas (48) of the two clamping limbs (22, 24) are arranged in a manner averted from one another and perpendicular to the mounting plane. The clamping screw (34) is oriented with its screw axis (K) substantially parallel to the ring axis (R). The clamping arrangement (32) further has two contact-pressure elements (50, 52) which are coupled to one another by means of the clamping screw (34) and between which the two clamping pieces (40, 42) are accommodated and which can be moved toward one another along the screw axis (K) by tightening the clamping screw (34) . The respective contact-pressure element (50, 52) has two contact-pressure plates (58, 60, 62, 64), of which one contact-pressure plate (58, 64) makes contact with the one clamping piece (40) and the other contact-pressure plate (60, 62) makes contact with the other clamping piece (42). The two contact-pressure plates (58, 60, 62, 64) of the respective contact-pressure element (50, 52) run away from one another in the direction of the respectively other contact-pressure element obliquely in relation to the screw axis (K) in such a way that the two contact-pressure plates (58, 60, 62, 64) push the two clamping pieces (40, 42) onto the associated contact areas (48) of the two clamping limbs (22, 24) as the clamping screw (34) is tightened. |
