An image heating apparatus or a heater used in the image heating apparatus includes a thermally conductive anisotropic sheet provided on one surface of the heater on which a temperature detection member is provided. The sheet is not provided at a portion of the heater where the temperature detection member is provided, or the thickness of the sheet is reduced at a portion where the temperature detection member is provided compared to the thickness thereof in the surrounding area of the portion. Accordingly, responsiveness of the temperature detection member is improved.

1. An image heating apparatus, comprising:
a plate-shaped heater; a temperature detection member configured to detect a temperature of the heater; and a thermally conductive anisotropic sheet provided on a surface of the heater where the temperature detection member is provided, the sheet having a higher thermal conductivity in a plane direction of the sheet than that in a thickness direction of the sheet, wherein the sheet is not provided at a portion of the heater where the temperature detection member is provided, or the sheet has a reduced thickness at a portion where the temperature detection member is provided compared to the thickness thereof in a surrounding area of the portion.
