PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for measuring the concentration of target substances. SOLUTION: This device for measuring the concentration of a target substance is provided with a detection container, a pump, and an integral temperature indicator. The detection container, containing a detection material chemically reactive with the target substance for producing an observable indication, from which the concentration of the detected target substance can be read, at exposure to the target substance. The pump is engageable with the detection container and operable to draw a sample containing the target substance, to which the detection material is exposed, of a gaseous environment into the detection container, and the integrated temperature indicator shows the temperature of the gaseous environment.
