PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus capable of making a position shift and a color smear of an image as small as possible by eliminating a play of the image carrier in spite of minimum required tolerance between the image carrier and its driving shaft, and then obtaining an image of good quality. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus such as a color copying machine includes a photoreceptor drum 11 carrying a toner image. The driving shaft 30 which has required tolerance engages an engagement part comprising a hole part 12a and a groove part 12b formed at each of flanges 12 provided to both ends of the photoreceptor drum 11, and a turning force is transmitted. The flanges 12 are supported on a hard roller 33 at intervals of an angle C (acute angle) in the peripheral direction on a perpendicular S passing the center of the potoreceptor drum 11.
