PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber which enables the outermost coating layer to be removed simply and in a short time, which causes no disconnection of the optical fiber during the removal operation, and which also elongates a removable length. SOLUTION: The coated optical fiber 10 is provided at least with an exposable coating layer 3 and the removable outermost coating layer 12 on the outer circumference of a bare optical fiber 2, and is made convertible to a fiber with a different diameter by removing the outermost coating layer. The coated optical fiber 10 is characterized in that an oil coated film 11 having a silicone oil with a viscosity≥500 cSt is provided between the exposable coating layer and the outermost coating layer.
