PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging a physiological activity capable of judging the physiological activity of microorganisms by staining the group of the microorganisms forming a colony form, while maintaining their colony form and making them alive, and a kit for judging the physiological activity. SOLUTION: This method for judging the physiological activity is provided by collecting the microorganisms on a filter membrane, culturing and then staining the microorganisms on the filter membrane by fluorescent dyeing liquid penetrated from the lower surface side of the filter membrane. In the fluorescent dyeing liquid, a live cell-dyeing fluorescent dyestuff and a dead cell-dyeing fluorescent dyestuff having a different fluorescent wave length than that of the live cell-dyeing fluorescent dyestuff are incorporated.
