PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems associated with a conventional lancet, for example, pressing force applied on the fingertip tends to vary because abutting direction of the lancet on the fingertip and the pressing direction of a trigger means are different, puncture depth by a puncture needle is not constant because the trigger means has to be pressed while abutting the lancet on the fingertip, and the puncture needle tends to be erroneously discharged because the trigger means is exposed. SOLUTION: A lancet is provided which comprises a puncture section and a case. The puncture section has the puncture needle arranged on one end and covered by a stick, a plurality of hooks formed on the circumference, and a spring arranged section on the other end. The case has engaging sections to be engaged with the hooks and receives the puncture section against a spring. The lancet discharges the puncture needle by releasing the engagement of the hooks. The lancet further has a cover put slidably on the case in the axial direction. The cover is put on the case so that the puncture needle discharge side of the case is projected. The cover has releasing sections which release the engagement between the hooks and the engagement sections when the cover is slid and moved in the axial direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
