The present invention relates to a thermoplastic modacrylic resin composition including a modacrylic resin and a plasticizer, the modacrylic resin including 15-85 wt% of acrylonitrile, 15-85 wt% of vinyl chloride and/or vinylidene chloride, and 0-20 wt% of another vinyl monomer, and the plasticizer being an organic compound which is compatible with the modacrylic resin and has a boiling point of 200°C or higher. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a thermoplastic modacrylic resin composition, the method comprising melt-kneading a powder mixture in which are mixed a powder of the abovementioned modacrylic resin and the abovementioned organic compound compatible with the modacrylic resin and having a boiling point of 200°C or higher. The present invention also relates to a molded article having a predetermined shape and being configured from the abovementioned thermoplastic modacrylic resin composition. The present invention also relates to an acrylic fiber configured from the abovementioned thermoplastic modacrylic resin composition. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing an acrylic fiber by melt-spinning the abovementioned thermoplastic modacrylic resin composition.
