PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pick-up device, a focus detector and an image pick-up system, wherein it is possible to improve a responsivity at the time of low brightness upon obtaining photographing conditions (for example, a focus detection or range finding is performed). SOLUTION: The image pick-up device 10 for picking up an image in a photographing optical system comprises a first pixel cell 11 containing a first photoelectrical converter 14 for generating electric charges in response to incident beams; and a second pixel cell 12 which contains an optical element 15 for focusing the incident beams and second photoelectrical converts 16, 17 for generating electric charges in response to beams focused by the optical element, and which has a larger cell size than the first pixel cell.
