PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extinguishing compound necessary for fire suppression, and an extinguishing method which can reduce the amount of a hydrofluorocarbon fire suppressive material and can reduce the amount of an inert compound necessary for extinction. SOLUTION: The method for extinguishing a burning matter comprises supplying the burning matter with an inert compound and an extinguishing compound selected from HFV-125, HFC-227 and a their mixture at the respective sufficient concentrations for extinction.
