An ejector equipped with: a body (30) in which are formed a decompression space that decompresses a refrigerant, a suction passage that suctions refrigerant from the outside, and a compression space that mixes and compresses the injected refrigerant injected from the decompression space, and the suctioned refrigerant suctioned by the suction passage; a conical passage-forming member (35) which is disposed inside the body (30); and a drive device which changes the position of the passage-forming member (35). A nozzle passage (13a), which functions as a nozzle, is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the passage-forming member (35), and the inner peripheral surface of a nozzle body (32) that forms the decompression space. Moreover, a nozzle body-side groove section (32a) and a passage-forming member-side groove section (35a) are formed in the inner peripheral surface of the nozzle body (32), and the outer peripheral surface of the passage-forming member (35), said groove sections abruptly increasing the passage cross-sectional area of a divergent section (132) in the nozzle passage (13a). Thus, the operating noise of the ejector, which is configured so as to enable the passage cross-sectional area of the nozzle to be changed, can be reduced. |
