PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal fusion type thermal transfer recording medium that enables recording of high image quality on transfer destination paper having inferior surface smoothness, and is free of rub stains of ink on the transfer destination paper and superior in scratch resistance of an image.SOLUTION: (1) A thermal transfer recording medium has a release layer formed mainly of wax and an ink layer containing wax and a colorant on a support base, and also has an over layer formed mainly of wax and resin. In the thermal transfer recording medium, the resin is an ester styrene acrylate copolymer. (2) In the thermal transfer recording medium, described in (1)1, an ester styrene acrylate copolymer has a number-average molecular weight of 1,500-5,000. (3) In the thermal transfer recording medium, described in (1) or (2), Tg of an ester styrene acrylate copolymer is 55-70°C. |
