PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system for reducing transmission of unnecessary data, an image forming apparatus and a method for controlling the same, and a program.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus receives selection of print data, determines whether it is in a state where the print data has been acquired and can be printed, and does not issue a request when the image forming apparatus determines that it is not in the state where the print data has been acquired and can be printed and issues the request when the image forming apparatus determines that it is in the state where the print data has been acquired and can be printed.
