PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a rear axle by which shrinkage fit can be made unnecessary and the rear axle manufactured by this method.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the rear axle performs a small diameter part forming step of forming a small diameter part 4 diametrically reduced in the outer periphery in an end part 3 of a rear axle housing 2, a brake flange press-in step of pressing a brake flange 5 in the small diameter part 4 of the rear axle housing 2, a brake flange welding step of welding the rear axle housing 2 and the brake flange 5, an axle end press-in step of pressing an axle end 7 in an inner peripheral surface of the end part 3 of the rear axle housing 2 and an axle end welding step of welding the rear axle housing 2 and the axle end 7. |
