The steam iron has steam chamber connected to a water tank, and a steam volume adjustment device (10) for adjusting amount of water to be introduced from the water tank into the steam chamber. The water tank and the steam chamber are arranged in a housing (11). The volume adjustment device extends from the housing to the steam chamber. The adjustment device has a pivot (12), which is engaged into a toothed ring (13) of the housing such that a haptic and/or acoustic signal is triggered based upon actuation of the adjustment device that is designed as a valve lifter (14).
