The present invention relates to an apparatus for detecting fingerprint and an operating method thereof, and more particularly, to an apparatus for detecting fingerprint capable of obtaining fingerprint images in an even quality level by removing an offset irregularly occurring by respective sensor pads constituting the apparatus for detecting fingerprint, and an operating method thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for detecting a fingerprint comprises: a plurality of sensor pads receiving a response signal from a finger according to a driving signal applied to an external electrode; a sensing circuit outputting a detection signal based on the response signal; a data sampling/holding unit sampling and holding the detection signal received from the sensing circuit; an offset sampling/holding unit detecting an offset in the detection signal received from the sensing circuit, and sampling and holding the detected offset; and a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) offsetting a second sampling signal received from the offset sampling/holding unit from a first sampling signal received from the data sampling/holding unit to amplify the first sampling signal by a constant ratio. According to the present invention, an offset generated from each sensor pad is adaptively removed, so the quality of a fingerprint image can be improved. |
