摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit of a hybrid vehicle capable of upgrading fuel consumption or a drive feel by predicting a state of a road surface seen ahead of its own vehicle without the necessity of acquisition of information from a GPS and processing of the information, and controlling the start of an engine according to the predicted state of the road surface.SOLUTION: When a vehicle (1) is traveling in a motor traveling mode on a descending ramp during auto-cruise control (S1 and S2), if a quantity of a change in a focal position is equal to or smaller than a predetermined quantity, the state of a road surface is estimated to be stable (S3 to S5, and S7). An engine (2) is started according to the timing that a resistance applied to the vehicle 1 prior to a terminal point of the descending ramp becomes 0 (S8 to S10). If the quantity of a change in the focal position is larger than the predetermined quantity, the state of the road surface is estimated to be unstable, and the engine (2) is prohibited from being started (S6).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
