PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a fast-dissolving dosage form (FDDF) for delivering vaccines using a formulation containing a starch, optionally, along with at least one additional matrix forming agent, preferably, a combination of gelatin and mannitol, wherein an immune response is induced in a patient in need thereof.SOLUTION: The invention provides a fast-dissolving oral solid vaccine dosage form comprising (a) an immunogenic amount of an antigen preparation, (b) at least one immune response potentiating matrix forming agent, and (c) at least one additional matrix forming agent, wherein the at least one immune response potentiating matrix forming agent is a starch, the at least one additional matrix forming agent is selected from the group consisting of mannitol, gelatin, and combinations of mannitol and gelatin, the gelatin is present in an amount of about 2.5 wt.% to about 65 wt.% if gelatin is present; the mannitol is present in an amount of about 5 wt.% to about 80 wt.% if mannitol is present; the dosage form promotes the oral incorporation of the antigen in the antigen preparation.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
